With the Toyota RAV4 EV set to disappear by the end of the year, what’s in the future for Tesla and Toyota? The two automakers teamed up for the electric RAV4 and now Tesla CEO Elon Musk sees another “significant” joint project that could be released in the next two to three years.
Currently there are no concrete plans for a new vehicle with Toyota, but a future joint project is a possibility. “I think that if you look out maybe two or three years from now, that I would not be surprised if there is a significant deal with Toyota,” Musk recently stated. “My best guess is that it would probably be something significant, maybe on a much higher volume level.”

Toyota currently owns 2.4 percent of Tesla, but hasn’t released any details on a future collaboration with Tesla. Toyota is currently focusing its resources on its new fuel cell vehicle, since it sees fuel cell vehicles as a better “green” solution than limted range electric cars.
