Subaru’s first fully electric vehicle is here, the 2023 Solterra, which is the result of a partnership with Toyota. Toyota is also selling a version of the same EV crossover, called the bZ4X.

Both crossovers are mechanically similar, but the Solterra gets standard all-wheel drive, while the bZ4X is available with either front- or all-wheel drive. The Solterra is powered by two electric motors that generate a combined 215 horsepower and 246 pound-feet of torque. Subaru says that the Solterra can travel up to 220 miles on a single charge, which is lower than the 250 mile range you get with the front-wheel drive bZ4X.

The Solterra can be recharged with a DC Fast Charger at speeds up to 150 kW, which will charge the battery up to 80% in 30 minutes. The Solterra has 8.3-inches of ground clearance and Subaru’s X-Mode tech.

The 2023 Subaru Solterra is slated to arrive some time in 2022.
