Earlier this week we got excited when Subaru released a teaser image of a spoiler with “STI” branded on the side wings. While a hotter version of the BRZ may still be in the works, this week’s teaser was for something different. Subaru has released another teaser and has now confirmed that this month’s debut will be for the WRX STI Type RA – a more hardcore version of the WRX STI.

Subaru has released a teaser photo, revealing the WRX STI Type RA’s carbon fiber roof, but Motor1 has even more details about what we can expect. According to Motor1, the WRX STI Type RA will also have a carbon fiber rear wing, an upgraded suspension with Bilstein dampers, 19-inch forged Golf BBS wheels and Recaro seats. Subaru has also confirmed that the WRX STI Type RA will get “gearing and engine upgrades.”
Following its debut next week on June 8, Subaru is also going to attempt to set a new lap record for a four-door sedan at the famous Nürburgring race track later this summer.
