VW and Volvo have boasted several times about their new platforms that will underpin most of their respective lineups and now Subaru is about to follow suit. It’s being reported that the next-generation of Subaru’s lineup will all use a single platform.
Using a single platform will give Subaru the ability to cut costs and development time. Starting in 2016 Subaru will use a single platform to underpin all its models, including a new seven-passenger crossover. It’s also being reported that the new Subaru models will get engines that use direct injection and cylinder deactivation technology. Subaru is also expected to release a plug-in hybrid in 2017.
