Subaru is expecting that its sales in the U.S. will reach 500,000 units by 2015, which will largely be due to the arrival of new models and additional production capacity. Sales this year will be between 410,000 to 420,000 units, but according to Dean Evans, chief marketing officer of Subaru of America, Subaru could easily sell up to an additional 20,000 units if it had more production capacity.

Subaru currently has one plant in Japan and a second in Lafayette, Indiana. Production capacity at its Lafayette plant is going to expand in 2016 when it starts producing the Impreza. Last year Subaru sold a record 336,441 units. Sales of the new Forester, XV Crosstrek and BRZ coupe are responsible for Subaru’s gains this year. The next WRX/STI is going to debut in November and a new Legacy sedan and Outback wagin are expected to arrive next fall.
