Rolls-Royce has stunned us over the past few years with its boat-themed models, like the 2017 Sweptail and the 2021 Boat Tail and now we have a new one, called the Droptail. More specifically its called the La Rose Noire Droptail.
The La Rose Noire Droptail is the first of four coachbuilt Droptails, which debuted at a private event near Pebble Beach. The La Rose Noire Droptail is inspired by the romance and the allure of the Black Baccara rose, a velvet-like flower from France. The dark pomegranate color of its petals looks almost black in shade, but in direct light, a red, pearlescent shimmer is revealed on the dark surface. The first red shade is named ‘True Love’, while the darker tone is named ‘Mystery’.
Rolls-Royce says that it took 150 attempts to create the special color, which features a secret base coat and five layers of clear lacquer, each blended with a slightly different tone of red. It also features a special removable hardtop that turns it into a roadster with the top down or a sleek stunning coupe with it on.
At the front the La Rose Noire Droptail features a new curved iteration of the brand’s iconic grille. It also rides on 22-inch wheels.
Inside the dashboard features a 43-millimeter Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date, from Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet, which was requested by the commissioning family. More importantly the family also wanted the timepiece to be mounted in the car and also be removable, so that it can be attached to a strap and worn. Once the timepiece has been removed, the aperture in the fascia is covered with an elegant titanium openworked blank head watch with a white-gold coin displaying a rose engraving, hand-sculpted by Audemars Piguet artisans. We also can’t forget the exclusive champagne chest.
We can’t wait to see what Rolls-Royce has planned for the next three droptail models.
