Rivian R1S electric SUV is a sports car at heart

Rivian R1S

Yesterday Rivian unveiled its new R1T electric pickup truck and now we have our look at its second vehicle – the R1S electric SUV. The R1S and R1T are closely related, since both vehicles are based on Rivian’s new skateboard chassis.

Just like the R1T pickup, the Rivian R1S can travel up to 440 miles on a single charge, but thanks to its SUV body, the R1S can also hold up to seven passengers. The Rivian R1S can not only compete with other full size SUVs, but it will easily surpass them with its 0-60 mph time of only three seconds.

The R1S is powered by four electric motors, one at each wheel, just like the truck. The most powerful version will have an insane 750 horsepower. Rivian says that the R1S can tow up to 7,716 pounds, which is less than the truck’s 11,000 pound tow rating. Buyers will be able to choose from either 180 kWh and 135 kWh battery pack.
