Chrysler has reportedly ended production of the Dodge Caliber that originally went on sale in 2006 as a replacement for the Neon.
The Caliber never really caught on and was consistently ranked at the bottom of its class. In its 2011 annual car issue, Consumer Reports ranked the Caliber SXT at the bottom of its list of small hatchbacks and wagons.
Analyst Jim Hall of 2953 Analytics LLP stated, “It’s the last of the American bottom-feeder compacts. That’s what they were. It came from thinking, ‘small cars, small profits.”
Chrysler’s replacement for the Caliber, the 2013 Dodge Dart is going to be unveiled next month in Detroit.
