Porsche looks like it’s getting ready to go head to head with Tesla, since it just revealed the new Mission E electric car concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

With over 600 horsepower on tap, a driving range around 310 miles and room for up to four passengers, the Mission E concept would be the perfect rival to the Tesla Model S. The Mission E is powered by two electric motors that power all four wheels. Porsche estimates that it will reach 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and 0-124 mph in less than 12 seconds. The Mission E concept is powered by a 800-volt drive system that can recharge up to 80 percent in a short 15 minutes, which is quicker than today’s electric vehicles. The Mission E can also be recharged using an inductive charging system that does away with the need for bulky charging cables.

Porsche hasn’t officially announced any plans to introduce an electric car, but it’s doubtful that the Mission E concept’s powertrain would go to waste. It’s highly likely that we could see some form of the concept’s powerrain show up in the next-generation Panamera or maybe even the smaller Pajun.
