Polestar has announced that its first model, the plug-in hybrid Polestar 1 coupe is already sold out. Production of the Polestar 1 is scheduled to begin by mid-2019, but if you’re hoping to get the one, you’ll have to wait until sometime in 2020. The first allotment of 200 Polestar 1 coupes headed to the US are already accounted for.
Polestar has also confirmed that its next model, the Polestar 2 will debut in early 2019. The Polestar 2 is the brand’s rival to the Tesla Model 3. Following the Polestar 2’s arrival in 2020, Polestar will introduce the Polestar 3 electric SUV.
“Launching an entirely new car brand gives us the opportunity to assess what customers enjoy about car ownership, and what they are less keen on,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer at Polestar. “As an electric performance brand, we want to maximize our customer’s enjoyment of driving. Polestars will be great looking cars with avant-garde design that are full of modern technology and great to drive.
