Opel Unveils the Refreshed Opel Insignia Ahead of its Frankfurt Debut

Opel is going to unveil a refreshed Opel Insignia at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall, but in the meantime here is our first look.

Opel is going to unveil a refreshed Opel Insignia at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall, but in the meantime here is our first look. THe new Insignia, which is sold in the US as the Buick Regal gets refreshed interior and exterior styling and updated engines.

On the outside the new Insignia gets a refreshed grille that is wider and lower than before. The brand bar that cradles the Opel logo is leaner and includes winglets that link the eye to the redesigned headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The rear end has also been refreshed with a new chrome bar that is positioned lower and that extends into the taillights.

Inside the Insignia gets a new center console with new technologies and functions, but at the same time it is now simpler to use. The new infotainment generation in the Insignia can be controlled over an 8-inch color display with touch operation or via the steering wheel as well as voice commands. The instrument panel has also been updated with an 8-inch color display.

Under the hood the Insignia is offered with a range of gas and diesel engines. The diesel options include a 2.0L turbo diesel that can generate either 120-hp or 140-hp and a 2.0L BiTurbo diesel with 195 horsepower. The two gasoline engines are a 2.0L turbo with 184-hp or a 1.6L turbo with 170-hp. Opel also offers an Insignia that can run off Liquified Petroleum Gas that is powered by a 1.4L 140-hp engine.
