Audi has recently confirmed that the US will not receive the 2009 Audi RS6 due to fuel economy and emissions requirements in the US….lame!
“We had thought perhaps that it would be possible, given America’s preference for the four-door version instead of the Avant, but the work required on the V10 powertrain to meet the emissions goals hurt the business case,” Jens Koch, RS6’s project manager told InsideLine in an interview.
The 2009 Audi RS6 is powered by a 580 horsepower 5.0L V10 engine.
Although the US isn’t getting the RS6, we will get the RS5, which will debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show next January. A new RS4 will follow the RS5’s debut. Also if you can wait until 2012 when the next-gen RS6 is released, that is when we will get the RS6 again.
