Nissan currently only offers the Leaf electric vehicle in the US, but it will soon be joined by the Ariya electric crossover. Nissan has also announced on Wednesday that it expects that 40 percent of its US sales will be fully electric by 2030.

Nissan also says that by the early 2030s every new Nissan vehicle will be electrified, which includes hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. Nissan also has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Nissan’s goal aligns with Honda, which also expects fully electric and fuel cell vehicles to account for 40 percent of its sales by 2030. Honda also has a goal of selling 100 percent zero emission vehicles by 2040. Toyota also plans to introduce 15 electric vehicles by 2025.
