While automakers like, GM and Ford have been revamping their truck lineups, Nissan’s truck lineup needs a little love. For starters, the Titan isn’t available with a V6 engine and the Frontier is by far the oldest truck in its segment.

2018 Nissan Frontier

Michael Bunce, senior vice president-product planning for Nissan North America, recently revealed to WardsAuto that there are some changes coming. First a V6 engine is still “in the plan” for the Titan, although he failed to mention an introduction date. Second a new Frontier is coming.

Since the Frontier and Titan are build in the same plant in Mississippi, the Titan and Frontier could get the same V6 engine.

Nissan hasn’t confirmed when the new Frontier will debut, but it’s expected to debut in 2018. What we also don’t know yet is if the new Frontier will share its platform with the Nissan Navara, which is sold in other markets and the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup.

Nissan also recently hinted at bringing back the rugged Xterra.
