Nissan has revealed the production version of the Nissan Leaf Nismo, which is going to go on sale in Japan on July 31. This marks the introduction of the sportiest Leaf ever offered and is just one of two new versions of the Leaf that are on the horizon.

The Nissan Leaf Nismo gets several upgrades to not only make it look sportier, but also drive a bit sportier. To improve the Leaf’s performance, Nissan tweaked the electric power steering, suspension, brakes and retuned the VCM. What we see missing from the list are any upgrades to the Nissan Leaf Nismo’s electric motor or battery.

To give it a sportier look, the Leaf Nismo gets custom front and rear fascias and sportier 18-inch wheels. Inside there’s an Alcantara wrapped steering wheel, custom gauges, Nismo badges and unique cloth seats.

With the introduction of the Nissan Leaf Nismo in Japan, it’s only a matter of time until the Leaf Nismo is offered in other markets. While the sportier styling is a welcome addition, most buyers will likely be more interested in the 2019 Nissan Leaf E-Plus with its larger battery and more powerful electric motor.
