When VW unveiled the current Scirocco five years ago fans in the US eagerly awaited news that it would be offered here, but unfortunately due to a number of reason it didn’t. But now there is some hope…
Last year Jonathan Browning, CEO of VW Group of America told reports that he would love to see it offered here, “That’s a piece of the lineup that I would dearly love to see here.” Now Mark Gillies, VW’s Manager of Product and Technology communications in North America has revealed that VW may be open to the idea. Gilles recently told Autoguide, “We don’t have any plans to offer this current generation Scirocco R in the U.S…. but we are open to looking at future versions of the vehicle for this market.”
Giles went on to state that the current Scirocco is not engineered for the US. So although we don’t have an official confirmation, there’s still hope that the Scirocco could be headed to our shores.
