It’s been reported that VW is planning on bringing the next-generation VW Phaeton back to the U.S., but now a new report claims that it will be much cheaper than the original version. The latest report claims that the next-generation Phaeton will be priced much cheaper to compete against other big sedans like the Chrysler 300 and Ford Taurus.
Kevin Joostema Volkswagen of America’s general manager for product planning recently told Edmunds, that VW is currently trying to determine what it needs to compete for customers that buy models like the 300 and Taurus. If VW does decide to position the Phaeton against those customers, then it’s price could drop to the $40-$50k range, which is a big drop from the last model, which was once priced close to $100k.
