Maserati is currently working on the next-generation GranTurismo, but it’s being reported that the convertible GranCabrio will not be part of the next model. The next-generation GranTurismo is expected to arrive by late 2017 and when it arrives it will only be offered with a fixed roof.
Fans of the drop top GranCabrio will hopefully find the Alferi as a suitable replacement, since it will be offered both as a coupe and convertible. “The GranTurismo will be replaced at the end of 2017, but as a coupe only,” stated Peter Denton Manager of Maserati North Europe. “We feel that gap will be filled by the Alfieri Spider, due in early 2017.”

Details about the next GranTurismo are scarce, but Denton did reveal that it will actually be smaller than today’s model. The next GranTurismo will also be powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with more than 550 horsepower.
