Yesterday FCA made some big announcements about the future of the Jeep brand. FCA plans to invest $4.5 billion in five of its existing Michigan plants to meet growing demand and introduce two new Jeep models.
FCA plans to invest $1.6 billion to convert the two plants that make up the Mack Avenue Engine Complex into the future assembly site for the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is slated to arrive in the first half of 2021, likely as a 2022 model.
The new assembly site will also build a new three-row full-size Jeep that’s going to enter production at the end of 2020, as well as plug-in hybrid Jeep models. Jeep has not provided any details about the new three-row full-size SUV. The investment will add 3,850 new jobs.
We’ve been waiting for FCA to confirm when the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will enter production and now FCA has set a date of early 2021.
