The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is getting it’s first redesign since it was introduced in 1979 and we’ll reportedly get our first look at the all-new G-Class in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Australia’s Drive is reporting that the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class will take the stage for the first time at the show.

G-Class fans shouldn’t worry too much, since the new G-Class will retain its boxy styling, but will get some more modern updates. A new independent suspension, unique four-wheel drive system and 9-speed transmission are rumored. The G-Class may also grow a bit in size, but it will be lighter than the current model.

The 2019 G500 will be powered by a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine where it will have around 400 horsepower, while the G63 will use the same engine, but with closer to 600 horsepower.
