At the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, this past January, Acura took the wraps off the NSX concept, which is a preview of the all-new NSX supercar. The concept was powered by an all-wheel-drive hybrid system with two electric motors at the front and a V6 engine with direct-injection technology. Sadly we have to wait a few more years for the official arrival of the next NSX, but its luckily its hybrid drivetrain will arrive a bit earlier.

Honda President Takanobu Ito recently told Automotive News that Acura’s flagship RL sedan will also get the hybrid system, which could arrive as early as this fall. “The technology has outstanding handling,” Ito said. “The thinking behind the RL and NSX systems is the same, but the NSX’s will be more sports-car focused.”

It’s already been reported that the next RL will debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show, which will most likely show up in concept form.
