After several rumors and reports that the Honda Insight is being discontinued in Europe, Honda has now confirmed that the Insight hybrid will be leaving the U.S. market as well. The Insight has never been able to put even a small dent in Toyota Prius sales and slow sales means that it will be gone after the 2014 model year.
The Insight is one of the worst selling models in the Honda lineup, with only the small CR-Z hybrid selling less, so it’s not surprising that it’s going away. It’s not clear if Honda is going to offer a new Insight in the future, but once the current inventory runs out, the Insight will be gone.

With the disappearance of the Insight, the fate of the CR-Z is now placed in jeopardy, since it shared its powertrain with the Insight. Honda is going to put the two motor hybrid system from the Accord Hybrid in future models, but it isn’t known if the CR-Z is on that list.
