2012 Toyota Prius c Starts at $18,950 and Gets 53 MPG

Toyota has announced the pricing for the all-new Prius c, which is the smallest model in the Prius family. The 2012 Prius c starts at $18,950 and will arrive in dealerships next month.

Toyota says that the 2012 Prius c was “designed to function as a city-friendly vehicle with an engaging driving experience and hatchback utility.” It gets up to 53 mpg in the city, which is the highest city mpg rating of any vehicle without a plug. It’s officially rated at an EPA-estimated 53/46/50 city/highway/combined mpg.

The Prius c is powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor with a nickel-metal hydride battery. The system has a total output of 99 horsepower.

The Prius c will be available in four trim levels: One, Two, Three or Four. The base Prius c one comes with standard features like automatic climate control and Bluetooth. The Prius c Two model starts at $19,900 and comes with a 6-speaker audio system, cruise control, 60/40 split fold down rear seat and a cargo area cover. The Prius c Three model starts at $21,635 and comes with a 6.1-inch touchscreen navigation system, Sirius satellite radio and Pandora radio. The Prius c Three trim also gets color-keyed door handles, a Smart Key system and buyers can add 15-inch alloy wheels and a power moonroof as optional equipment. The top level, the Prius c Four trim gets standard 15-inch 8-spoke alloy wheels, heated front seats, heated mirrors and fog lamps. Buyers can add 16-inch alloy wheels and a power moonroof for an extra $1,150.
