Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the long wheelbase version of the new A-Class sedan, which is debuting this week in Beijing alongside the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class L sedan is designed specifically for the Chinese market, while the sedan will get a shorter wheelbase in other markets around the world.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan looks almost identical to the Concept A Sedan that previewed it last year. It’s a stylish compact sedan that doesn’t look too far off the the CLA, but at least its more traditional roofline won’t sacrifice rear headroom, like in the CLA. At the front, the A-Class sedan looks almost identical to the five-door model. Inside there’s room for five passengers, which has more space thanks to the longer wheelbase. The dashboard is dominated by the MBUX infotainment system with its dual digital screens.

When the A-Class L sedan goes on sale in China, it will be powered by a 1.33L engine that will come in 134 horsepower and 161 horsepower versions. A more powerful 2.0L engine with 188 horsepower will be added later. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

The regular A-Class sedan will debut later this year and unlike the A-Class hatchback, the U.S. will get the S-Class sedan.
