Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has released what its planning to release with a Maserati badge over the next five years, with the biggest news being the arrival of the Alfieri sports car and a new SUV.
FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne has revealed that Maserati will get a complete revamp which includes new versions of the Quattroporte, Ghibli and Levante all arriving by 2022. The long awaited Alfieri coupe and convertible will also replace the GranTurismo and GranCabrio by 2022.
To keep SUV fans happy, the new D-segment SUV will be positioned below the Levante and likely share its DNA with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The new SUV will have perfect 50:50 weight distribution and “superior ride and handling.”
Maserati is also moving into the future with a range of new electrified models. By 2022 Maserati will offer eight plug-in hybrid and four fully electric models. We do know that the Alfieri coupe and convertible will definitely be offered with fully electric powertrains as part of the new Maserati Blue lineup. Maserati is also planning to phase out its diesel models by 2022.
