Lotus recently announced that its killing the Evora, Elise and Exige models and in its place it will only offer one sports car, the Emira.
Lotus has released the first teaser photos of the new Emira, ahead of its debut on July 6. It will have its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It was speculated that the Emira would be powered by a hybrid powertrain, but that’s not the case. Lotus has confirmed that the Emira will be offered with a choice of internal combustion engines. It’s rumored that it will be offered with either a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a V6.
The Emira is also the last Lotus that will be powered by a gasoline engine.
”It’s the most accomplished Lotus for generations – the perfectly packaged, powered and formed sports car. Beautifully proportioned, shrink-wrapped, but with comfort, technology and ergonomics built in. With a design inspired by the Evija all-electric hypercar, it’s a game-changing Lotus sports car.”
