Ford has set the goal of bringing its Lincoln luxury brand to China in the second half of 2014. Ford CEO Alan Mulally announced the plans as Ford is breaking ground on its third assembly plant in the city of Chongqing.
“Introducing Lincoln in China marks the next step in our expansion in Asia and our commitment to serving customers in the luxury market,” Mulally said. Ford plans to sell Lincoln be sold through an independent dealer network and will begin meeting aspiring dealers in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Lincoln brand has been a constant struggle for Ford, but the new attention that Ford is giving to the brand should hopefully turn things around. The 2013 Lincoln MKZ is the first new model that is part of Lincoln’s “reinvention.”

Mulally also stated that the design of the new MKZ was designed with China’s tastes in mind.
