We love the sound and power of the 5.0-liter V8 in the Lexus LC 500 and RC F, but it looks like we will soon have to say goodbye to it. A new report claims that Lexus has canceled development of a V8 engine for it future models.

Japan’s Mag-X is reporting that Lexus has decided to ditch the V8 engine and is instead focusing its energy on turbocharged V6 and electrified powertrains. Late last year Lexus confirmed that it was working on a new twin-turbocharged V8, which was also going to power a special Lexus LC in the 48th 24 Hours of Nürburgring Endurance Race.

The new engine was expected to have around 600 horsepower and also be offered in the LC F. If the report is true, we will have to wait and see what the future holds for the Lexus F brand.
