Lexus is reportedly working on a new compact SUV that will go head to head with the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Automotive News Europe is reporting that Lexus is working on a new hybrid compact SUV that will be based on the Toyota RAV4.
The new compact Lexus SUV would slot below the current Lexus RX450h in the Lexus lineup and give Lexus a new model to battle in the growing small SUV segment. A concept version of the new SUV is expected to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show this November, with the production version debuting next year at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The new Lexus compact SUV is expected to use the same hybrid system found in the Lexus IS 300h, which mates a 2.5L four-cylinder engine to an electric motor.
