Earlier this week Lexus unveiled the hybrid version of the LC coupe – the LC 500h. Although the hybrid coupe is set to have its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1, Lexus has been kind enough to release some of the LC 500h’s specs.
Earlier this week Lexus unveiled the hybrid version of the LC coupe – the LC 500h. Although the hybrid coupe is set to have its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1, Lexus has been kind enough to release some of the LC 500h’s specs.
As it was previously reported, the LC 500h will be powered by a 3.5L V6, an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery pack and a 4-speed automatic gearbox mounted at the rear of the hybrid transmission. The 3.5L V6 generates 295-hp and 257 lb-ft. of torque and the electric motor adds another 60 horsepower. Combined, the hybrid system generates 354 horsepower and accelerates the coupe from 0-62 mph in under five seconds. The Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid System also features ‘M’ Mode–the first driver-initiated gear shifts offered on a Lexus full hybrid powertrain.

The LC 500h is the first Lexus model that is based on its new rear-wheel drive platform. At the outset, Lexus engineers focused on what they refer to as the LC 500h’s “inertia specification”, placing most of the vehicle mass, including the engine and occupants, as low and centralised as possible within the chassis. The powertrain mass is located behind the front axle line creating a “front mid-ship” layout.
