It’s been five years since Lexus discontinued the entry-level CT model in the United States, although it lived on in Japan until earlier this year. Now a new report claims that Lexus is working on a second-generation CT, but this time it will be a crossover with three different powertrain options.

2017 Lexus CT

Japan’s Best Car Web is reporting that the new CT will be a small crossover that will be offered with combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains. The publication doesn’t have a lot of details, but it does say that it will be offered with a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain, a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and a fully electric version.

If the rumors is true, we’ll have to see if the new CT is positioned above the UX in the Lexus lineup.
