Lexus has finally confirmed that it is working on a larger version of the RX crossover that will have three rows of seats, which will finally give Lexus a competitor to the Acura MDX and Volvo XC90.
Lexus General Manager Jeff Bracken confirmed to Automotive News at the New York auto show that the three row crossover will arrive in late 2017 or early 2018. Instead of creating a new name for the larger crossover, Lexus has decided to build on the brand recognition of the popular RX.

“We’ll embrace the RX name,” Bracken said. “It will be something very close to what we have now with a minor variation.”

Lexus has reportedly already filed trademark applications for the RX 350L and RX 450hL names. Expect the styling to also be similar to the regular RX.
