Kia is adding another SUV to its lineup, the 2021 Kia Seltos. We saw the Seltos earlier this year, but when Kia unveiled it, it did not confirm if it would be offered here in the US. Well now it’s official, since the 2021 Seltos just debuted at the 2019 LA Auto Show.

The Kia Seltos shares its platform with the Hyundai Kona, but compared to its cousin, the Seltos has a more upright stance, which gives it more passenger and cargo space. It also has a higher ride height, which should help it appeal to more SUV buyers.

Under the hood the Seltos shares its powertrain options with the Kona, which means the base version will come with a 146-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. The more exciting option is the 175-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is optional.

Inside there’s a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, available wireless charging and an available 8 speaker Bose audio system.

The 2021 Kia Seltos will be offered in five trims: LX, EX, S 2.0L, S 1.6T and SX. The base LX is expected to start around $22,000, when it arrives in early 2020.
