Kia already offers the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the Niro crossover, but now it’s getting to release the third version, an fully electric Niro. Kia has announced that the Niro EV concept will debut this month at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Kia hasn’t released any technical details about the Niro EV, but since the Niro shares its parts with the Hyundai Ioniq, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the Niro EV has a similar 124 mile range as the Ioniq Electric. There’s also a chance that the Niro EV could borrow some parts from the upcoming Hyundai Kona EV. The 2019 Kona EV is expected to be offered with a choice of either a 40 kWh and 64 kWh battery pack. The Kona EV with the 64 kWh battery pack will be able to drive around 210 miles on a single charge.
The Niro EV concept’s styling won’t differ too much from the Niro hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, but we can see different LED lighting at the front and back. Kia also says that the concept will feature a new human-machine interface and an advanced new motion graphic lighting system.
The Kia Niro EV is expected to arrive for the 2019 model year.
