Jeep is showing off its newest concept, the seven-passenger Yuntu plug-in hybrid crossover concept this week at the Shanghai Motor Show. Although the Jeep Yuntu concept is being shown off in China, there’s a possibility that a production version could eventually be offered in the US, but with one big change, it’s badge.

Jeep’s lineup in the U.S. is getting pretty full with the new Renegade, Compass, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee models. We already know that Jeep is also going to be introducing a new Grand Wagoneer soon too, so that leaves little room for a production version of the Yuntu concept. But there’s hope, if the Yuntu concept does get the green light, it could be offered here with a Chrysler badge on the hood.

The seven-passenger SUV could be a viable alternative to the Pacifica minivan and its plug-in hybrid powertrain would help raise the overall mpg specs for the Chrysler brand. The production version of the Yuntu is expected to debut in the coming months in China, but there’s no word yet when Chrysler could make a decision to create a Chrysler-badged version.
