Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Keeps its Name for Now, 2016 May Get Trackhawk Name

The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is likely going to be called the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk starting with the 2016 model year.

Earlier this year Chrysler announced that the SRT brand was going away and that the name would only be applied to Dodge’s high-performance vehicles. But what did that announcement means for the Chrysler 300 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT models?
Chrysler hasn’t made an official announcement about the SRT branded Chrysler 300 and Jeep Grand Cherokee, but we do know that the Jeep Grand Cherokee is here to stay for at least the 2015 model year. After this year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is likely to get a new name, according to one unnamed source that spoke with Automotive News.

A few months ago Chrysler reportedly filed a trademark for the Trackhawk name and it’s highly likely that the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT will be renamed the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

What about the Chrysler 300 SRT? It’s being reported that it will only be sold in markets outside the U.S. in 2015.
