At the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals in Barcelona Saturday, the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo Concept was unveiled as a full-scale model. The concept’s name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. But the new race car concept represents Genesis’ freshest approach to its Athletic Elegance design philosophy. The concept car, which was developed for Polyphony Digital’s Vision Gran Turismo series, will be playable in the game in January 2024.

“Our goal was to create a timeless design rooted in the essence of motorsport,” says John Krsteski, Genesis Senior Chief Designer. “The designers relished the opportunity to create a race car that featured Genesis design elements as well as technical performance attributes. It has become a catalyst of inspiration for our other programs.”

Wearing stunning a stunning Magma paint color, the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo Concept’s front end features the brand’s grille shape outline in lighting, and joined with signature horizontal light bars that drape around the car’s front fenders and down its sides towards its concave doors. It’s a look first seen on the Genesis X Convertible concept revealed in California in November 2022. It works as well on the race car as it does on the Berlinetta. The greenhouse’s shape slopes rearward in a classic fastback form, as muscular wheel rear arches swoop rearward, visually joining in the back about an ovoid back panel.

Inside, you’d expect a racetrack-oriented cockpit, and that’s what you get. Distractions are minimized. A screen serves as a hub in the center of the yoke steering wheel and serves as a digital information hub, receiving feeds from the vehicle’s various sensors.

The Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo Concept’s power is generated by an electrically-assisted front mid-mounted Lambda 11 V6 hybrid race-spec drivetrain rated at 1,071 horsepower and 986 pound-feet of torque, according to the automaker.

In-game, the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta launches in January 2024. Players should watch the Manufacturer’s Cup broadcast in GT7 to get the car early with the game’s January update. To do this, click the banner located in the GT7 global map’s upper right corner.
