Spy photos of a camouflaged Tribeca-like vehicle with a Scion badge have been published by Japan’s New Model Magazine X. Could Toyota be working on a SUV for its “youth-oriented” brand?
Toyota currently owns an 8.6% stake in Subaru’s parent, Fuji Heavy Industries. This small stake in Subaru, which could increase soon, could make this future Scion SUV possible. But the real question is, why?
A large family focused SUV seems like it would be out of whack with the current Scion lineup and what Scion stands for. A smaller SUV, like the last generation RAV-4 may work, but could Scion designers actually restyle the Tribeca enough to make it more youthful? A large SUV could do more harm than good to Scion’s image.
There have also been rumors that Scion is working on a small mini-pickup truck.
