Recent spy photos have confirmed that Lexus is working on a more powerful LC F, which is expected to arrive next year with around 600 horsepower. But a new report also claims that Lexus recently gave the green light to an LC convertible.

2018 Lexus LC 500 Review

According to Auto Express, the Lexus LC convertible is a “done deal” and will be added to the lineup within the next 18 months to two years. We don’t know any details about the LC convertible, but an inside source confirmed that the the LC drop-top is coming.

One of the biggest reasons for giving the LC convertible the go ahead is because Lexus currently does not offer any convertible models. The IS C is long gone and back in 2014 Lexus did hint at an RC convertible with the LF-C2 concept, but then decided to cancel the plans to focus on SUVs.

“I hope that we will have a convertible in the near future. We know the luxury market requires a convertible,” Yoshihiro Sawa, president of Lexus International, told Auto Express. “We are always studying the possibilities. And yes, technically it’s possible.”
