Last week Infiniti unveiled the Qs Inspiration concept, yet another concept that’s supposed to hint at the brand’s electrified future. Now it’s being reported that the first electric Infiniti will arrive in about three years and it will be based on the Q Inspiration concept that debut last year.

INFINITI Q Inspiration Concept

According to Automotive News, the production version of the Q Inspiration concept will be the brand’s flagship electric sedan and the first of several electric cars that the brand will introduce starting after 2021.

“With electrification, we aim to express performance in authentic and innovative ways,” Habib Karim, Infiniti’s executive design director stated. “New electric vehicle architecture will enable the creation of spacious, comfortable, loungelike interiors.”

Infiniti has also confirmed that its electric cars will be built in China.

“China has the most growth potential for electric vehicles globally, especially in the premium segment,” Christian Meunier Infiniti chairman recently stated. “The age of electrification presents us with an opportunity to renew our credentials as an innovative challenger brand.”
