Infiniti has announced that it will start adding electrified models to its lineup starting in 2021. Nissan Chief Executive Officer Hiroto Saikawa made the announcement today at the Automotive News World Congress today. Infiniti hasn’t announced what types of models will get electric powertrains, but it says that it will offer a mix of fully electric and hybrid e-Power vehicles.
“Customers can expect beautifully designed vehicles like the Q Inspiration concept shown in Detroit, with a whole new level of electrified driving performance as an evolution of Infiniti’s current powertrains.”
Infiniti’s proprietary e-Power technology features a small gasoline engine that charges battery, without the need of using a plug. In 2021 Infiniti will also release its first fully electric model. Infiniti expects that more than half its global sales will be comprised of electric vehicles by 2025.
