Infiniti is going to reportedly add more crossovers to its lineup and a new halo model above the current Q70 sedan in an effort to build the brand’s presence and sales. President Johan de Nysschen has revealed to the Automotive News that Infiniti’s plan is to cover 90 percent of all global premium segments by the end of the decade, compared to just under 60 percent today.
“We will also in the future, introduce models above where the Q70 stops today, the Q70 being the former M,” De Nysschen said today during the line off ceremony for the new Q50 sedan at Infiniti’s Tochigi assembly plant. “In our crossover range, we can imagine significant additions to that lineup as well.”

Infiniti’s global sales last year were only around 170,000 units, but De Nysschen hopes to hit a new global sales goal of 600,000 units by 2020.

Infiniti is also working on a new compact model that will be built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK starting in 2015.
