Hyundai has started production of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson at its plant in Montgomery, Alabama plant, which also builds the Sonata, Elantra and Santa Fe. This is the first time that the Tucson is being built in the United States.
“Adding this fourth Hyundai vehicle to HMMA’s production lineup will help the Hyundai brand meet the growing demand for SUVs in the North American market,” said José Muñoz, President and CEO – Hyundai Motor North America. “It will also better position HMMA to fully utilize its vehicle assembly capacity.”
The 2022 Tucson is scheduled to arrive at dealers this spring. It will be offered in eight trim levels and three powertrains. The standard engine is a 187-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A Tucson hybrid and plug-in hybrid will also be available.
