The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is newest is now one of the safest three-row crossovers on the market, since the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that it has earned its highest safety rating possible – Top Safety Pick+.

To receive the coveted safety rating, a vehicle has to earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head-restraint tests. It must also earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and be equipped with good-rated headlights.

The 2020 Palisade earned good ratings in all six of the crash tests and its standard front crash prevention system earned a superior rating, since it avoided collisions in both the 12- and 25-mph tests. Its optional LED headlights earned a good rating, but its base halogen headlights only received a marginal rating.

That means that only models with the optional LED headlights earn the Top Safety Pick+ rating, while models equipped with the standard headlights only get the lower Top Safety Pick rating.
