Hyundai has announced that its new Nexo fuel cell vehicle now has the longer driving range than any other fuel cell vehicle in the world. With a driving range up to 378 miles (609 kilometers), the Nexo fuel cell SUV has a longer driving range than other fuel cell vehicles, like the Toyota Mirai and Honda Clarity.
Range in a fuel cell vehicle doesn’t necessarily have the same weight as it does with a fully electric vehicle, but given the fact that there are less hydrogen stations in existence, it does help. When you do have to refuel the Nexo, Hyundai says that it will take less than five minutes.
The Nexo is powered by a 120 kW electric motor, which is enough power to give it a 0-60 mph time of 9.5 seconds, three seconds faster than the old Tucson FCEV.
Hyundai hasn’t announced the pricing for the Nexo, but it will go on sale first in Korea next month. The Nexo is just one of the 38 eco-friendly models Hyundai plans to introduce by 2025.
