Honda is preparing an electric car for the European market and it previewed it today with the debut of the Urban EV concept at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Honda Urban EV concept is built on a completely new platform and sets the design direction for the production model that will arrive by 2019.
The retro-inspired Urban EV concept has a simple hatchback design that is low and wide. It’s a small EV with a length that is 100 mm shorter than the Honda Jazz. At the front the Honda emblem is backlit in blue, which is a feature that we’ll soon see on all of Honda’s electric cars. The front can also display interactive multilingual messages between the headlights, including greetings, advice for other drivers on the road, or charging status updates.
Inside there’s room for four passengers that sit on two bench seats in different materials. To create a lounge feeling, the front row is upholstered with natural grey fabric, with the seat backs, squabs and arm rests embellished with contemporary wood finish accents. The interior is dominated by a large floating dashboard with a panoramic display screen.
