Honda hasn’t revealed it yet, but it is working on a new electric crossover called the Prologue. The Honda Prologue is slated to arrive in 2024 and now Honda has revealed that it has an annual sales target of 70,000 units for the new EV.

The Prologue is being co-developed with GM and will be based GM’s Ultium platform. Acura is also getting an electric crossover that’s based on the same platform as the Prologue. Initially sales will take place in California and the other zero emissions states , including Texas and Florida.

“Launching our first volume BEV in 2024 is the start of an exciting new direction for Honda,” said Dave Gardner, executive vice president of National Operations at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We are working with our dealers to plan the transition from sales of primarily gasoline-powered vehicles to selling 100-percent electric vehicles by 2040.”

Following the introduction of the Prologue, Honda will introduce a new lineup of electrified vehicles based on its own e-Architecture platform. Honda expects that electrified vehicles will account for 40 percent of its sales by 2030, 80 percent by 2035 and 100 percent by 2040.
