Honda kicked off production of the all-new 2018 Honda Accord today and to celebrate the start of production, Honda also announced that it is investing $267 million and adding 300 new jobs to support production of the new Honda Accord and to increase production at the Marysville Auto Plant, in Ohio.
The Accord has been in continuous production at the Marysville Auto Plant since November 1982 – with cumulative U.S. production exceeding 11 million units over 35 years.
“The new jobs and production growth will enable us to meet anticipated strong demand for the new Honda Accord,” said Rob May, MAP plant manager. “Re-imagining the new Accord and bringing it to life took an incredible effort by our project team and our associates. The privilege of producing America’s best-selling car for the last 41 years is a significant point of pride for our associates.”
Even though the 2018 Accord is now rolling off the production line, Honda has not announced the pricing. The 2018 Accord will be available with a choice of two turbocharged four-cylinder engines, either a 192-hp 1.5L four-cylinder or a 252-hp 2.0L. The Accord Hybrid will also return with the third generation of Honda’s two-motor hybrid technology. The 1.5L can be mated to either a six-speed manual or CVT transmission, while the 2.0L gets either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic.
