GM’s 2014 Chevy Spark EV is set to arrive this summer, but plans for GM’s next electric car are already under way. GM is planning on producing its next electric car in South Korea and more importantly the next model will not be based on an existing model, like the current Spark.
Sergio Rocha, CEO of GM Korea told Reuters that the next GM electric vehicle will be slightly larger than the current Spark EV. Rocha did not provide any details to when the new electric vehicle will arrive, but GM CEO Dan Akerson also recently revealed that GM is working on new EVs, one of which has a 100 mile range and the other can travel up to 200 miles between charges. An electric vehicle with a 200 mile driving range would help ease the range anxiety that keeps many buyers away from today’s current electric vehicles like the Nissan Leaf.
