GMC has toyed with the idea of introducing a subcompact crossover for some time and now it looks like the brand is rethinking the idea again.

According to sources that spoke with GM Authority, GMC is considering adding a small crossover to its lineup. The small GMC crossover would be based on the same platform as the Buick Encore GX and the Chevrolet Trailblazer, but it will be “highly differentiated” from its cousins.

2010 GMC Granite Concept

Back in 2020 GMC unveiled the GMC Granite concept, which you see here. The concept showed off how a GMC subcompact crossover could look, but sadly it never entered production. Last year GMC reportedly killed plans to introduce a small crossover, since the brand wanted to focus on trucks instead.

If the subcompact GMC crossover does get the green light, it will probably be a few years before it enters production.
